Bradenton is the county seat of Manatee County, on the south bank of the Manatee River across from Palmetto.
Downtown centers on the Bradenton Riverwalk and Rossi Park, where Realize Bradenton, the downtown nonprofit, hosts concerts, festivals and a market.
US 41 and I-75 are the main north-south routes, and Manatee Avenue (State Road 64) runs west from downtown toward Anna Maria Island. The Riverwalk and Village of the Arts are close enough to downtown to walk between, but the rest of the city is mostly car-oriented.
