Bayfront downtown with historic theaters, a new waterfront park, Main Street and a Saturday market
Downtown Sarasota is the city's compact urban center on the east shore of Sarasota Bay, along the U.S. 41 bayfront.
The bayfront is the draw outside theater hours.
Downtown runs along U.S. 41 (Tamiami Trail / Bayfront Drive), where Fruitville Road meets the bayfront. It is very walkable, the free Sarasota Bay Runner trolley links it to St. Armands Circle, Lido Beach and Longboat Key, and Breeze Transit buses also serve it.
