Barrier-island town split between Manatee and Sarasota counties with Gulf beaches and resort golf
Longboat Key is a narrow barrier-island town between the Gulf and Sarasota Bay, split between Manatee and Sarasota counties.
The island has no direct bridge to the mainland; both bridges lead to other barrier islands.
There is no direct mainland bridge. Reach the island from Anna Maria Island across the Longboat Pass bridge on the north, or from Lido Key and St. Armands Key over the New Pass bridge on the south. Gulf of Mexico Drive is the main road, and beach accesses are signed with small parking areas.
