South Tampa is the large residential and commercial part of Tampa on the Interbay Peninsula, between Hillsborough Bay and Tampa Bay.
The waterfront is the main draw.
Dale Mabry Highway, Howard and Armenia Avenues, and Bayshore Boulevard are the main routes from downtown and the interstates, and the Selmon Expressway's west extension links toward Gandy Boulevard and the Gandy Bridge to Pinellas. The area is spread out, so most trips are by car, though Bayshore, Hyde Park and Davis Islands are pleasant on foot.
